Winter and the holiday season is fast approaching and I know a lot of our “snowbirds” have gone south or will be heading out soon.  With the weather changes that have been happening lately, who can blame them?  Safe travelling to all of you and please think of the rest of us when you see the snow blow, the wind chill us to the bone and the rain seeming to never-end.

You will notice the title on this edition of the bulletin is changed.  For a very long time the title “Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter” has bothered me somewhat.  At this time of year, the edition is called “Winter” but the reports and photos are from September, October, and November……..hardly winter.  The same happens with each edition—the reports and photos are from the three months prior to the season.  It just never made sense to me, so I suggested we re-title the front page as 1st Edition of 2012, 2nd Edition of 2012 et cetera.  That means that this edition is called 4th Edition of 2011.  It met with approval from the Wing Executive and Board of

Directors and so it begins with this edition.  I hope this also meets with your approval.

This edition is a full bulletin with lots of reports and photos.  If there is something you would like to see in the bulletin sometime, please let me know.  It may spark your interest in the Wing by what you see in the “Contrails” and perhaps then we can get more members out to the various functions, such as the General Meeting.  That’s where a lot of decisions are made and you are to be part of that decision-making.

At our last General Meeting there were about 32 members and 15 of them were the Executive and Board of Directors.  The other 17 were the same members who come to all the meetings and most of the functions, including our very valuable bar tenders, who are also volunteers.  Our Wing needs your input and your attention.  Without that, all decisions fall on the same members and when those members decide it’s time to retire from doing their duty, (possibly because of burn-out) what happens to the Wing?  It falls apart.  We need all of you to take part in some manner to keep our Wing as successful for the future as it has been in the past.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
